Holiday to Kenya & Tanzania

The trip was amazing - really great and we are very grateful to Mahlatini for organising such an amazing trip . I deducted a point for the one exception and that was the lack of customer service in Sea Cliff in Zanzibar which was disappointing

“Safari was really superb, the accommodation ie luxury tents were great, the staff at Kichwa Tembo Camp were awesome there was a real pride about the work they do and they were really engaged with their customers. The accommodation in Nairobi again was really great and it suited our needs in terms of a quiet Oasis in the middle of a city. Nairobi is developing and will be interesting to visit again in 5 - 10 years”

Tanzania

“Zanzibar was really disappointing for me and not because it did not have beautiful beaches and scenery - I found the poverty really disconcerting.The contrast between the resorts and the poverty was extreme. I visited Stone Town and while parts of it near the sea were nice, it was mainly really poor and dirty. We also visited Nongwi and while it was a lively place and had more vibrancy about it - it was still very poor and the roads were horrendous. The lack of investment in infrastructure government would make you angry that the resorts make all the money and give nothing back to the economy. I would suggest that tourism will be the long term loser if infrastructure is not addressed . It was shocking. The roads were of such bad condition that I can honestly say the dirt tracks in the Masai Mara were in a better condition.”

Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp

“Incredible place, great service, staff were very personable, food was really good, accommodation and facilities were great. Security very visible. We did 5 drives and they were amazing , our driver Christopher was so knowledgeable about the animals and the birds and he kept us entertained for the whole time. We managed to see all of the BIG Five due to Christopher's persistence. He was also so engaging without being intrusive, the whole experience was great”

“The hotel is old and has not really updated. The management did not put emphasis on customer service, the staff appeared to be terrified of making a mistake with a charge rather than serving customers. Management appeared to throw cheap resources ie people but no emphasis on training those people. I would not in any blame the staff, this is fundamentally a management issue and they were really bad. The front desk were rude, I heard them practically attacking a customer for not having her bags at reception when she was enquiring about checking out, I asked for a late check out and again all I can say is that they were rude. The food was substandard - really poor quality and again you could see it was about how much money they could make out of the customer rather than giving the customer an amazing experience. One bright light is that the floor manager in the golf club and beach bar was really engaged with his customers. He should probably be running the place”

“An Oasis of calm in this busy place, the staff here were really wonderful a bit like Kichwa Tembo - really connected with the customers, the place was really clean, the gym and pool areas were really well presented.”

“Claire was really great to deal with even though I had given her a great challenge in arranging this at short notice she did a wonderful job. I had initially gone to another agency whose first response was it could not be organised at such short notice so well done Claire we do appreciate all your efforts and would not hesitate but to recommend you to others”
