Holiday to Egypt
Dean and Robyn Clabrough, 3rd September 2021We absolutely loved our first trip to Egypt! This was mostly because of the excellent experience we had by the tour services literally from the time we stepped off the plane until we headed home. The hotel selections, tours and restaurant booking were all excellent. Visiting Cairo and all the amazing historical sights can be a lot, however we had a great balance of sightseeing and rest time. A trip on the Nile and visit to the Old Cataract is a must!

“We absolutely loved Egypt. In terms of time of the year we were lucky with timing that it had just started to “cool” a little 2 weeks before we arrived, but it was still hot. I would absolutely only recommend Egypt at a cooler time of the year, it can be unbearable especially for older people in the warmer time of the year.”

Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan
“The Old Cataract hotel is an absolute must, you could even spend one extra day there. We were lucky that the flights to Abu Simble had just reopened the day we arrived (rather than the long drive), and we added on the extra day trip on arrival (extra sale by the A&K team). It was excellent and we enjoyed that add-on, but would have been great to have one more night not to have rushed everything to get to the boat departure on time. We also took a cruise in an old boat from the Cataract which was lovely as the sun was going down.”

“The cruise was excellent! I have not done a cruise before and the smaller boats were fantastic. There are a few different ones, they are mostly similar. Some have different decks or pools. The staff were very good. We didn’t arrange a private Egyptologist and we didn’t really need it. Perhaps it was due to Covid times, but the boat was mostly full and we were only grouped with one other international group a father and son. So we had a shared Egyptologist who was very experienced and also knew many people as he was from the local region. We got to go into some private sections of various tourist sights and see things away from the crowds, including sections under development and not yet open to the public.”
