At just 6 miles by 2.5, Seychelles' second largest island of Praslin is almost a world away from bustling Mahé. Reached by either a 15-minute flight or a one hour ferry ride from Mahé, it offers a breathtaking landscape of stunning palms and idyllic beaches for your Seychelles holiday. Praslin is famed as being home to the Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the amazing Coco de Mer double-lobed coconut grows - the only place on earth where it can be found in its natural habitat. It is the world's heaviest seed, weighing between 15 and 30kg.
Apart from its unique fauna and flora, Praslin island has some great walking trails and is home to some of Seychelles most spectacular beaches. With its small population and gentle pace of life, it is ideal for a laid-back Seychelles honeymoon or holiday. There are numerous hotels and resorts dotted around the coastline and Praslin also has Seychelles' only 18-hole championship golf course at Constance Lemuria Resort. Praslin also makes an ideal base from which to make day excursions to the neighbouring island of La Digue as well as several other picturesque small islands including Curieuse, Cousin, Coco and Sisters
While Praslin's interior is spectacular, so too is its coastline and the islands found just offshore. Explore an underwater world with snorkelling and diving or take a boat trip to Curieuse Marine National Park and meet Aldabra tortoises or see the breeding ground of hawksbill and green sea turtle. Exclusive hotels make the most of Praslin's breath-taking scenery, with coastal situations opening out onto unspoilt beaches and swaying palms - the luxury of the hotels themselves eclipsed by the luxury of their natural setting.
