Found in a valley in the heart of the Drakensberg Mountains, Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse is a charming country escape, providing warm friendly service and a beautiful backdrop. The house is owner managed by hosts Richard and Mouse Poynton, who have a great knowledge of the area and are incredibly welcoming. Unique accommodation, a number of activities in the surrounds and delicious cuisine ensures guests will enjoy a comfortable stay.
The 11 rooms all possess distinctive character and interesting interiors. The rooms overlook the mountain scenery and a private dam, echoing the property's rich history, with the original farm house, dating back to the early 1900s, forming three of the rooms. En-suite bathrooms continue the charm and rooms are dotted with various artefacts and quirky items.
One of the highlights of a stay at Cleopatra is the scrumptious dinners, which come in 7 courses with a running commentary from owner Richard. Ingredients are freshly picked and locally sourced making for delicious diners complemented by a wonderful selection of fine wines from the property's underground cellar. From the hotel enjoy a wide range of activities, including swimming, horse riding, hiking and fishing, with the chance to catch some trout.
