This land of rolling tea plantations and lush jungles set at an elevation of up to 2,500 metres above sea level contains some of Sri Lanka’s most stunning scenery. Arriving by train is recommended to watch the tea pickers working the fields, spot monkeys in the mist-shrouded hills and witness the many waterfalls that cut through the mountainous backdrop. There is plenty to appeal to the adventurous from hiking, mountain biking or white-water rafting.
