We don't know exactly when travel will return fully across all our destinations. As African specialists, with excellent trade relationships spanning nearly 20 years, we do know that we have secured the most flexible terms and are abreast of the very latest developments. Our dedicated team of travel experts are on hand to provide full support and ensure your much-anticipated trip is as protected as possible in this uncertain climate.

We take our clients to some of the most beautiful, remote and unpopulated places on earth. The African wilderness and safari tourism is ideally positioned to isolate you from others and reconnect with nature. Of course, additional measures will be in place for guest safety; but thankfully your safari experience, centred on wildlife sightings, breathtaking scenery, expert guiding and warm African hospitality will remain largely unchanged.

Flexible Booking Terms

We've listened to your concerns and have adapted our standard policies to offer you greater flexibility and peace-of-mind enabling you to plan ahead and book with confidence. Our flexible policy applies to new bookings and will remain in place whilst the FCO/TSA travel bans relating to Covid-19 are in force; these will replace our standard cancellation terms. Mahlatini is pleased to offer you:

  • Free cancellation or postponement until 2 months prior to travel date, with your deposit 100% refundable *
  • Within 2 months of the travel date, if FCO/TSA travel bans relating to Covid-19 remain in place we will work with our suppliers to extend or revise these terms. Otherwise, our standard cancellation terms apply (see below).
    • If you have contracted COVID-19 and are undergoing treatment or in quarantine up to 48 hours beforehand we will work with our suppliers to minimise financial loss and provide credits for future travel. **

* Certain itineraries may be excluded from the policy and your Travel Expert will advise you of any specific terms relevant to your booking during the consultation phase. Where suppliers, in particular airlines, offer postponement, but not a refund, we will only pass on the supplier charges applied.

** Mahlatini reserves the right to ask for any reasonable evidence, written statements and or documents to support the reasons for cancellation that are given.

While we always secure the best available rates direct from our supplier network, we have negotiated special terms with our partners during this period of uncertainty to offer you even better value. In the majority of cases we are offering 2021 trips at 2020 rates, in addition to specials offers and discounts. As part of our tailormade service, your Travel Expert will advise you on the best rates for your ideal holiday and secure any relevant discounts or added value available.

100% Financial Protection

More than ever, we understand you need reassurance that your hard-earned money is fully protected. We go one step further than most tour operators to provide complete peace-of-mind. As members of the Travel Trust (membership number U7098), Mahlatini hold all our clients' funds in trust and will only release them to onward suppliers when appropriate insurances are put in place to fully protect your funds. This means that should our business or any of our suppliers cease trading, you will still be able to travel or be entitled to financial compensation.

Postponed holiday to Botswana and Mozambique

Safety & Hygiene

As we personally hand-pick the properties within our portfolio and regularly visit them, we know that the most stringent safety and sanitation protocols are guaranteed as standard. In preparedness for welcoming back Mahlatini guests we are assured by the additional measures being adopted to prevent exposure to Covid-19. These are developed in line with World Health Organisation recommendations, with regards to hand and respiratory hygiene, social distancing and safe food practices, such as:

  • Longer turnaround periods in guest rooms, with enhanced deep cleans
  • Reduced maximum guest capacity to ensure all rooms and facilities are well-spaced
  • Touchless check-in procedures
  • Daily (unobtrusive) temperature screening of staff and guests
  • Increased private dining opportunities and individual plated service
  • Daily deep clean of communal areas, game vehicles etc. and rigorous surface cleaning
  • Alcohol based (70%) hand sanitizer readily available throughout the properties and facilities
  • Private use of safari vehicles where possible, with a maximum of four guests per vehicle

Medical Care

Emergency medical services are available to guests staying at even the most remote safari camps. Designated staff are medically trained to conduct initial assessments and if required, an air medical evacuation service is available to transfer guests to the closest world-class, private hospital. Air ambulance and hospital charges will be passed to guests travel insurance provider. Your dedicated Travel Expert can confirm the specific emergency medical care operations at the properties at which you will be staying.
