Safari Types

Guided Safaris

Guided Safaris are the most common form of safari. On these safaris you are accompanied by a game ranger who will drive you in a safari vehicle to the best spots for game viewing whilst also explaining the animal’s behaviour and habitat.

Guided Safaris
Mobile Safaris

Mobile Safaris enable you to get into the heart of the African bush, explorer-style, led by a professional guide and a small convoy to give you an authentic, intimate experience. Mobile safaris are about privacy and flexibility, where you choose what’s next on your agenda, and offering you a choice between luxury or more budget-friendly options, though neither will involve ‘roughing it’. It’s the perfect way to see a wider range of destinations and get even closer to the African countryside, particularly during migration seasons or when tracking wildlife.

Mobile Safaris
Walking Safaris

Walking Safaris are a magical way to explore the African bush. There is a world of difference between experiencing a safari on foot, "old style", than from a noisy safari vehicle. Walking safaris are all about quality not quantity and it is very often about the smaller creatures and the flora which is so often missed whilst in search of the Big 5.

Walking Safaris
Fly-In Safaris

Fly-In Safaris offer the ultimate convenience taking you into the heart of the wilderness directly from a country's international airport. They also add another dimension to the trip allowing you to see the animals and landscapes from a bird’s eye view.

Fly-In Safaris
Self Drive Safaris

Self Drive Safaris offer you the freedom and flexibility to choose how to pace your day. Self drives are particularly popular with visitors to Namibia and South Africa where facilities are particularly conducive to the independent traveller.

Self Drive Safaris
Elephant Back Safaris

Any sighting of an elephant on safari is a thrill; however, should you wish to engage more meaningfully with these magnificent creatures you have the choice of an organised Elephant Safari or a visit to a centre specialising in elephant interactions.

Elephant Back Safaris
River Safaris

Game viewing by boat on a River Safari offers a unique experience with opportunities to get closer to some animals than you might have on land. Being on water is often a quieter and more relaxing experience than a land based safari.

River Safaris
Primate safaris

Primate Safaris are for those people looking for a very different type of safari experience. Tracking habituated mountain gorillas or chimps in Rwanda or Uganda is the ultimate in adventure holidays providing last memories.

Primate Safaris
Horseback Safaris

The main attraction of a Horseback Safari is the joy of riding good horses over incredible landscapes dotted with game. With the horses bringing you closer to the animals and birds, qualified guides can share with you their intimate knowledge of the wilderness.

Horseback Safaris
Balloon Safaris

Balloon Safaris offer a fabulous opportunity to view game from a bird’s eye view. Floating silently over vast plains with herds of animals below is certainly a memorable and thrilling experience.
