Lake Naivasha, one of the eight Kenyan Rift Valley lakes, is a freshwater lake covering an area of 139 square kilometres. Due to the abundance of freshwater the surrounding fertile soil is largely used for fruit, vegetables and amazingly vineyards. Hippos and over 400 bird species are the main attractions to this lake, though the keen birder would be better suited visiting Lake Nakuru with its massive flamingo population.
