Room Types
Our Comments and Suggestions on choosing a Room Type:
The Junior Suites are situated in buildings with thatched roofs and a maximum of 8 suites. There are 68 suites on the ground and first floor (with sea view or overlooking the tropical garden), and 8 suites on stilts overlooking the natural fish reserve. They comprise of one bedroom with a sitting area.
If your budget can’t stretch to the villas the junior suites are everything you would expect from a 5 star superior hotel. The decor is open plan and very modern. You will love the luxury of the rooms.
The junior suites on the stilts overlooking the fish reserve cannot be guaranteed, only requested. There are pros and cons of the stilts, while possibly more private and peaceful, you do overlook a lagoon, not the sea and you are further away from the main hotel restaurant and beach.
The Villas are of the individual villa type with thatched roof. There are 9 villas which offer direct beach access and a heated private pool. 3 villas (without private pool) are on stilts overlooking the natural fish reserve. In addition to the standard facilities the suites comprise of a bathroom with a whirlpool bathtub, outdoor soaking bath, separate living room with dining/seating area, guest shower/WC.
Certainly if money is no issue the villas are a special treat. The villas on the stilts overlooking the fish reserve cannot be guaranteed, only requested. These seem to be more sought after, however, personal opinions from our team seems to reflect that the direct beach access and private pool may provide the slight edge in choosing between the two, although arguably you may experience a little more privacy on the stilts.

Restaurants & Bars
Our Comments and Suggestions on Dining at Le Prince Maurice:
Le Prince Maurice offers a relatively formal style of dining in fitting with the upmarket clientele that the hotel attracts. It is mainly French fusion cuisine. The main restaurant is largely 'a la carte', which is an exception in larger resort hotels in Mauritius. The Le Barachois floating restaurant should definitely be experienced as a treat once or twice in a stay. It is certainly a romantic experience if that’s what you are after. While it may initially appear that the hotel only offers two dining options for dinner that isn’t strictly the case. The hotel does offer a private dining service in your room and special meals on the beach complete with gazebos and couches. Honeymooners are treated to one of these meals per stay.
The food at Le Prince Maurice is top class and the service, typically Mauritian – always professional and given with a genuine smile. We do have many people comment on the price of drinks and food or they have read reviews on trip advisor before the trip. Our feeling is that it is a 5 star hotel and you are paying 5 star prices as you would in Europe. The quality of food is worth the price you pay in our opinion. Remember that drinks or cocktails bought in the bar are always served by an ever present waiter who will also provide you with wonderful bar snacks.
Our advice is to plan ahead and budget for what you will be spending while you are out there. You are also paying for the service and general ambiance and in general at this hotel, you get exactly what you pay for.
Additional Information
Le Prince Maurice offers 3 restaurants and 3 bars.
The main restaurant L'Archipel is located in the main building, overlooking the pool and the beach and partly open-air. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers à la carte menus with light Mauritian enhanced gourmet food and themed buffet dinners.
As an alternative option for dinner there is Le Barachois which is a unique floating restaurant comprising of five decks, located amongst the natural fish reserve which is reached via a wood pathway. Le Barachois overlooks the lagoon with an unspoiled view of a mountain range - the sunset is breathtaking. The restaurant is open for dinner only and offers daily specials including grills, seafood and Mauritian delicacies. Will be a supplement when eating here and you may need to pre book.
For lunch there is Le Beach Deck which is located on a wooden deck directly on the beach. It is offers an à la carte menu and snacks.
The main Laguna Bar overlooks the pool and beach and has two sundecks. There is live entertainment every night (piano, sitar, concert flute, jazz). The Lotus Lounge Bar located in the main building adjacent to L’Archipel restaurant is ideal for an aperitif before dinner and after dinner drinks in an elegant and intimate atmosphere.
Spa & Treatments
The Health and Fitness centre at Le Prince Maurice is situated in the hotel’s gardens. It offers a wide range of health and sports facilities. Free facilities include a fully equipped gymnasium, squash court, a thermal swimming pool with sun lounge chairs, a sauna, plunge pool and steam bath.

Families
Le Prince Maurice welcomes children and has an excellent kid’s club open from 9am to 9pm daily. "Les Petits Princes" has a games room, dining area and private children´s pool and welcomes children aged from 4 to 12 years. Indoor and outdoor activities organised daily under supervision.
While the children are kept fully occupied with indoor and outdoor activities mum and dad and enjoy such much needed time alone. There are also babysitting services available on request for babies. Children’s menus on offer also allow parents to enjoy the fine dining experience on offer at the hotel later in the evening.
It is our personal feeling though that Le Prince Maurice is more suited to adults or families with babies or teenagers.
There is a great Children’s Special which runs in the hotel during the winter months (May to mid Oct) where one child under 12 years in extra bed sharing in adult room stays free of charge.

The Legend Golf Course
'The Legend', the first of its kind in Mauritius, designed by South African champion, Hugh Baiocchi, is the crowning achievement of Constance Belle Mare Plage Resort, located along one of the most superb beaches on the island. Each of the 18 holes has distinctive characteristics. Superb fairways are laid in the heart of an indigenous forest, culminating in brand new greens, built to USPGA specifications. In an constant effort to provide the perfect golfing location, all 18 greens have been rebuilt using Tif Dwarf grasses to ensure a perfect surface. Time has also been taken to enhance the natural beauty of a site originally used to breed deer. Teeing off from the 17th hole (par 3) is a feast for the eyes and a test for the nerves.
The Links Golf Course
The second Belle Mare Plage Resort Championship Golf Course, designed by Rodney Wright and Peter Allis opened in November 2002. This 18-hole Links course was conceived as a result of the success and demands encountered by Hotels Constance's first course, 'The Legend'. Sitting beneath the clubhouse which faces the setting sun, the course measures 5,942 m and has a par of 71. Equipped with a practice fairway, this 18-hole course is set in a location which seems to have been naturally created for the purpose.
Le Prince Maurice is the perfect getaway for a romantic retreat. The hotel’s beaches are protected from the winds and set on a peninsula offering a peaceful and exclusive location. Customer Reviews of the Le Prince Maurice
Some of the best cuisine of our entire holiday. The Lobster night is not to be missed as it was simply out of this world. Little bit pricey but otherwise top of the range. Fabulous bedroom although we did not get the room on the stilts over the water as we requested. A great stay nonetheless.

Le Prince Maurice was gorgeous, so clean and the staff were amazingly friendly. But again they gave you space when you wanted it when lying at the beach. I think the only thing we found was it was very expensive at the hotel, although we took a trip into the nearest town and bought a few things. Also there wasnt anything to do at night - At All. After a busy wedding period, then in S.A was all go at the reserve , we wanted to lie back and relax but we found the lack of choice in restaurants or entertainment at night a little repeditive. I think because we went in their winter things perhaps were a little quieter. I cant fault the staff or the hotel at all, we both enjoyed it very much its just to point that out for future guests.

Idyllic Location! Beautiful Beach! But Very Very Expensive for Food & Beverage! We paid 11 euro for a milkshake! Only One Type of Dining Experience at night which was fabulous but became monotonous after ten nights! Fabulous selections of Wines but again expensive! Being Irish we missed having another few Irish there to chat to! We were the only Irish & found that other couples kept to themselves which made it very quiet!

I have never stayed in such a luxurious hotel, we were amazed as soon as we arrived at the hotel, it was definielty paradiise. We stayed in a junior suite overlooking the fish reserve and the beach and it was so beautiful. The staff could not do enough for you, which we found a bit too much as we are not used to be waiting on so much, they even carried our breakfast bowls to our tables. The hootel offers a variety of activities and we tried as many as we could such as water skiing, windsurfing, boat trips and bike rides. The hotel has something for everyone and is definielty a hotel I would recommend for honeymooners.

This hotel was amazing. The service was top class. We were made to feel special and find it difficult to find any fault. I think it is worth mentioning to customers about the price of drinks at the hotel. The drinks were expensive but we felt that the cost was well worth it for the superb location and facilities on offer.

Great hotel but over priced for drinks. Great food and just what we needed for a chill out week! We didnt get the same VIP treatment as we did in South Africa as I think everyone at our hotel were on honeymoon. Lovely beech and pool area.

We liked this place. We were less enamored with Mauritius. Very luxurious and friendly staff. Extremely comfortable. They catered to our every whim. Dinner served to us in and by our room was excellent. Dining experience in the restaurant itself was dis-organized.

I know a lot of places market themselves as "paradise" but this actually was! I regularly stay at The Crane in Barbados, so it was going to take a lot to wow me - and this place did.
