We had an absolutely brilliant honeymoon in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique. Our first stop in Victoria Falls was beautiful and the Victoria Falls Hotel was very charming. The room was perfect and the service at the hotel was great, we enjoyed visiting the falls and relaxing with a cocktail or two on the terrace watching the resident Warthog lawnmowers chewing the grass with the view of the mist rising above the falls in the distance. Next stop was beautiful Botswana and our first camp in Chobe National Park. Chobe proved to be the greatest location in terms of animal sightings and the camp at Chobe Under Canvas was truly fantastic, they made us feel very special and it was my favourite of all the accommodation. We enjoyed numerous sightings of lion, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, numerous antelope and a variety of bird life, crocodile and hippo by the river Chobe as well as a thrilling kill by a pack of rare wild dogs and a glimpse of leopard. Our second stop at the Okavango delta was lovely, the animal sightings were less frequent but we had elephant and hippo in the camp and saw fantastic leopard and hyena as well as many sightings of zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and elephant. We loved the speed boat trip and romantic mokoro trip through the reeds to look for frogs and the sun-downers we enjoyed watching breath-taking sunsets. Nxabega Camp was lovely and we were looked after throughout our stay. Our last stop in Botswana was the spectacular Makgadikgadi salt pans which really were an awesome sight, nothing as far as the eye could see in any direction. We spent a very enjoyable day hunting for meerkat which was brilliant fun (we found a lot of them) and we had a great bush picnic overlooking the vast expanse of the twetwe pan. Back at camp we loved the vantage point overlooking zebra and elephant drinking from the Boteti river. Our time on safari was amazing, a truly memorable experience. After a night in Johannesburg airport it was off to Benguerra Island in the Bazuruto Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique. We enjoyed a helicopter transfer for the short hop to Benguerra Lodge which was the ideal spot for a few days relaxation. Our Cabana was spacious and private and the staff really looked after us. We enjoyed snorkelling in the beautiful two mile reef and a romantic castaway picnic on the secluded north point of the island. Benguerra Island was beautiful and the perfect place to enjoy the crystal clear turquoise waters and untouched white sand beaches of this relatively untouched part of Mozambique. All in all, we had the perfect trip.
