Elsa's Kopje is a luxurious oasis in the wilds of Meru National Park. It is named after Elsa the lioness, made famous by George and Joy Adamson's biographical film Born Free. Renowned for being one of the most elegant lodges in Africa with the most spectacular setting, Elsa's Kopje is the winner of the Good Safari Guide's 'Best Safari Property in Africa' award.
In Meru National Park guests will see a more diverse range of species than in any other park in Kenya. Regular sightings include Beisa oryx, gerenuk, elephant, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, leopard, lion, cheetah, rhino and the rare greater kudu.
The camp is based on Mughwango Hill and blends into the rocky crags of the kopje (small hill). Each of the 9 open-fronted cottages is the ultimate 'room with a view' consisting of a main bedroom, ensuite bathroom (some have outdoor baths) and private deck (except room 3). The camp also offers a honeymoon cottage and a private house.
Fly into Muwango airstrip and 5 min transfer to Elsa's Kopje.
Day and night game drives, guided bush walks, bush meals, day excursions to the Tana River with packed lunches, visits to the local Tharaka village, sundowners, line fishing (catfish and Barbell) and massage.

Review of Elsa's Kopje
This was the place I dreaded to go due to the Kopje, however, our room although 26 steps up to it which was a little bit of a hike, if you took it slow and steady and looked at the Hyrax on the way! it was not too bad. The room itself was hidden away from every other room and had fabulous views. In the trees the hyrax would eat…
Really lovely - wouldn't be good for anyone who can't manage steps though!
