Mara Plains Camp

Expect high levels of comfort and game viewing from this exclusive property in the stunning Maasai Mara. Take-in classic Africa from Mara Plans Camp with a fantastic situation in the 35,000 acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy. Only three other camps operate in the Concervancy, so game viewing becomes very much a private affair. The camp is small and intimate, raised off the ground for exceptional views and nicely furnished with old world charm.

There are 7 tents available, all boasting wooden floors and well-appointed en-suite bathrooms, with a copper bath reminiscent of old world safaris. Beds are extremely comfortable and private verandas provide the perfect excuse to admire the view.

You'll find similar views from the camp's communal area, which is also raised off of the ground and comprises two lounge areas and a dining room. In one of the lounges you can enjoy a good book with a small library provided while the chandelier and wood table of the dining room can make dinner a charming affair. It's worth noting though that such charm is easily overwhelmed by the chance to dine under the stars - nothing beats al fresco dining at night surrounded by the Mara plains.

Getting There

Flights into the Ol Kiombo airfield or the Olare Motorogi Airstrip followed by a transfer to camp.

Activities

Day and night game drives, wildlife walks, visits to a local village and balloon safaris (at an extra cost).

The most comfortable and tastefully decorated tent on my entire trip. Food was far too spicy and made me incredibly sick. I could not eat dinner my second night at all. Holly and Ben were wonderful and saw that I had a tray with tea and toast in my room.

The food here was first class and was served wherever you wanted it either al fresco in the main area, in a private dining room or on your own decking. We chose to eat on our decking one evening and were amazed that whilst we had been enjoying a…
