Mara Plains Camp is situated in Kenya's Olare Motorogi Private Conservancy, one of the most iconic wildlife destinations on the planet with unrivalled access to more than 100,000 acres of exclusive land as well as access to the 375,000 Maasai Mara Reserve. Only four other camps operate in the Concervancy, so game viewing becomes very much a private affair. The camp is small and intimate, raised off the ground for exceptional views and nicely furnished with old world charm.
The camp can accommodate 14 guests. All tents boast wooden floors and well-appointed en-suite bathrooms, with a copper bath reminiscent of old world safaris. Beds are extremely comfortable and private verandas provide the perfect excuse to admire the view. Recently refurbished, the new Mara Plains Camp is now completely elevated on high-rise decks and will now offer newly-wed couples a brand-new honeymoon suite on a peninsula island. The new Honeymoon Suite can only be accessed via suspension bridge offering couples their own oasis of exclusivity and privacy.
The Mara Plains Jahazi Suite is an impressive new private 2-bedroom villa which can accommodate up to 4 adult guests sharing or a family of 5 comprising of 2 adults and 3 children. Featuring big wooden Zanzibar doors, large teak Mahogany desks and exquisite luxurious red coloured interiors, the spacious open plan exclusive villa residence also has a shared lounge and dining area and includes the services of a private game drive vehicle, guide and chef. This exceptional exclusive use villa residence has been created especially for guests seeking a 5-star personal safari experience catered to their own preferences.
This camp speaks to the intersection of cultures and as a meeting place to talk, share ideas and to share experiences. The camp's main area is also raised off of the ground and comprises two lounge areas and a dining room. In one of the lounges you can enjoy a good book with a small library provided while the chandelier and wood table of the dining room can make dinner a charming affair. It's worth noting though that such charm is easily overwhelmed by the chance to dine under the stars - nothing beats al fresco dining at night surrounded by the Mara plains.
Flights into the Ol Kiombo airfield or the Olare Motorogi Airstrip followed by a transfer to camp.
Day and night game drives, visits to a local village and balloon safaris (at an extra cost).

A super camp, very well run with lovely staff - manager Stella and deputy manager (and our guide) John. The food here was first class and was served wherever you wanted it either al fresco in the main area, in a private dining room or on your own decking. We chose to eat on our decking one evening and were amazed that whilst we had been enjoying a…
