Overlooking a floodlit waterhole in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, in Kenya, The Ark is a unique property, curiously mimicking the shape of Noah's Ark. The waterhole is a massive draw for wildlife, and guests can enjoy casual game viewing from the comfort of the lodge's 4 viewing decks. The property is only a 45 minute drive from the Aberdare Country Club where guests can enjoy tasty lunches.
The focal point of a stay here is naturally the waterhole and the wildlife that visit it. This is an excellent property for budding photographers, with the numerous viewing areas affording fantastic shots. A specially built hide allows guests to observe and photograph animals up close thanks to its positioning on ground level. Popular with buffalo, rarer animals are also known to frequent the oasis and should guests wish the resident guide will buzz your room to alert you. This can be a particularly excellent means of uncovering the secrets of wildlife interaction after dark.
The lodge provides a restaurant, which caters to any specific dietary requirements, a bar and a library. Accommodation takes the form of 60 self-contained cottages, spread across 3 levels. Guests can expect twin, double, single and triple rooms, all of which are nicely furnished with en-suite bathrooms, a buzzer for wildlife alerts and comfy beds.
1 hour flight from Wilson Airport to Nanyuki airstrip and around 1 hour drive from Nanyuki airstrip to Aberdare Country Club followed by a 45 minute drive to the lodge.
Game drives, fishing, guided walks, bird watching and visits to Aberdare Country Club and the many activities to be found there.

Wow! It was an amazing experience. Better than I could have imagined. The hotel look and feel is just so cozy! It's so different from Amboseli that I felt like I was not in Kenya, the wood atmosphere reminded me a ski resort or something like that! Perfect!
