The Stilz is an eco-friendly property within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and amenities of Swakopmund yet being slightly out-of-town makes it rather unique. Its quirky design adds to this uniqueness. Wooden bungalows built on stilts are 3.5 metres above bird-rich vegetation with spectacular views overlooking either the Atlantic Ocean or the magnificent dune landscapes of the Namib. Each of these private bungalows has been attended to in the finest detail, interlinked by wooden walkways to the others and to the main dining bungalow.
There are 9 bungalows in total including a honeymoon and one family bungalow which accommodates up to 4 people. There are also 2 luxury villas accommodating up to 6 people. All of the en suite (shower only) rooms provide a balcony with views of the dunes, the lagoon and the ocean. Small lounge areas with sofa are a feature of some of the rooms, together with a tea and coffee station. There are fans and heating in the rooms but no air-conditioning however this is not generally required in Swakopmund.
Breakfasts are enjoyed in the bright and cheery dining area which is also up on stilts. Here guests can watch the scenery and the birds whilst they eat. Helpful and friendly staff on are on hand to book activities and local restaurants.

The rooms are quite large and right on the beach about a 15 minute walk to the city centre, very clean and comfortable. Whilst we were there in April it was quite cold, there is heating in the room but you certainly needed warm clothes. Breakfast is provided and was good. For other meals you need to head to the city centre. It is a very nice location, very different and nice for a couple of days.Read full trip review
