The Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge is found within 75 000 hectares of magnificent malaria free wilderness. Surrounded by boulders on a rocky outcrop the camp is shaded by Tamboti trees in the very heart of Madikwe Game Reserve, bringing guests even closer to the game viewing action. The Big 5 reserve is home to a wide variety of animals, including over 66 mammal species such as giraffe, cheetah and elusive African wild dog.
Evenly spread out across its rocky area the property's suites are spacious and secluded. Walk along wooden walkways to reach your room, gently lit by lamplight. The glass fronted suites open out onto views of the surrounds, with interiors a refreshing breath of safari chic. Take to the wooden walkways once again to reach the main lodge area which consists of a lounge, library, dining area, bar and even a wine cellar.
Cuisine served at the lodge is excellent especially when it can be enjoyed surrounded by the wilderness and lamp light. To explore the reserve embark on thrilling game drives and walking safaris led by a highly experienced team.

Approximately a 3 hour 30 minute drive from Johannesburg to Madikwe Game Reserve, followed by a further hour to the lodge. Alternatively there's a 50 minute flight from O.R.Tambo International Airport into the Madikwe Hills airstrip, followed by a transfer to the lodge.

A very comprehensive, well-equipped and comfortable game lodge. Our suite was well furnished , and offered a magnificent view over the neighbouring water hole, affording excellent opportunities to observe a wide range of wildlife. The game drives were led by Trevor, an experienced guide with an inexhaustible store of knowledge and anecdotes (some of which might even have been true !)
