With holidays to the Winelands indulge in outstanding culinary panache and some of South Africa's most celebrated wine estates, with charming Cape Dutch architecture and pretty historic towns. Stellenbosch is one of the Wineland's archetypal towns with oak lined avenues and the largest wine route in the Cape, nearby Franschhoek, a mere 30 minutes away, owns one of the Wineland's prettiest settings, with protective mountains rising on three sides.
The town is also quite possibly the best place to sample this stunning region's mouth-watering cuisine, with a range of well-appointed restaurants serving dishes of your dreams. Franschhoek's surrounding area is just as much fun to explore with a wide range of activities to enjoy, including horse riding and hiking.
Nearby Paarl is also a worthy addition to your exploration of this area. Set in a gaping valley, the town itself manages a colloquial aesthetic in spite of its considerable size and offers a number of attractions. The wine farms of its suburbs are however its main draw with pretty farms dotting the countryside.
