The main cultural element of the trip will start in Anuradhapura staying at the eco-boutique Ulagalla Resort. It is ideally located for exploring the Cultural Triangle. Sights not to be missed are the Dambulla cave temple, Sigiriya Lion Rock, and the city of Anuradhapura. Here you will enjoy a backroads cycling journey with a local historian. Next, it is off to Pasikudah, a coastal setting that provides an ideal environment for a range of watersports, including snorkelling and scuba diving, kayaking, water skiing and fishing. You will stay at the luxurious resort Uga Bay which includes, for the grownups, a one-of-a-kind underground spa. Safari next, in the off-the-radar Gal Oya National Park. From Gal Oya Lodge, which is an ecolodge spread across 20 acres of private jungle, the family will be immersed in nature. You will spend your time enjoying jeep drives, boat safaris to watch elephants swimming and forest walks with the Vedda tribe, one of the last remaining communities of forest-dwelling, indigenous people of Sri Lanka. The last element of the trip will be a stay in a cosy, colonial-era tea bungalow Goatfell, in the scenic hill country, famous for its valleys, mountains, waterfalls and tea plantations. The perfect terrain for hiking, don’t miss a climb up Little Adam’s Peak, an unchallenging hike for kids and boasting panoramic views of the green landscape.
