No matter what age you are, a holiday to Africa is guaranteed to be a life changing experience. So why wait, at an andBeyond Safari lodge you can give your children the opportunity to experience Africa from an early age, on a trip thats safe, exciting, and utterly unforgettable. Children are provided with a diverse range of tailored activities, all overseen by camp staff and rangers, who supervise their undertakings with the utmost care and attention, amusing and teaching their young charges.
There are a number of lodges and camps across Africa which cater for children but few do it as well as the andBeyond lodges. Lodges such as Phinda Mountain Lodge
, Ngala Safari Lodge and Kirkmans Kamp
(all in South Africa) are dedicated to catering for families providing well-designed family rooms and offering childrens programmes for children aged 3-12 (and child minding for younger children).
provide the perfect opportunity for quality time with the children but ideally they should also give mum and dad some much earned rest. andBeyond understand this and on the afternoon of your arrival your children will be whisked off for a crash course in bakery. While youre taking a dip in the pool or having a nap back at your room, the kids will be beavering away under the supervision of the lodges resident chef; rustling up some delicious cookies to be enjoyed over afternoon tea.
However, fun for the kids really starts when they receive their special andBeyond Planet Manager backpack. Each backpack is filled with a magical mix of things to keep them entertained but foremost amongst them is the Eco Guide. Assigned their own ranger, kids complete this interactive booklet; learning more about the natural world in the process and how to care for and protect the planets natural resources.
They can also learn the skills they need to be a real life safari ranger by collecting bugs, pods and feathers, learning how to identify game and how to be an animal tracker. At the end of their safari experience, and with the completion of their Eco Guide, each child is presented with an official Planet Managers certificate, a sign of their newfound knowledge and achievement.
But lets not forget one of the main reasons youre here: a Big Five safari. Its a safari unlike any other as your kids garner all kinds of wildlife knowledge, from what rhino horn is made of to why an elephant has big ears, they are guaranteed to be buffs on all things Africa by the end of it. Plus, while theyre discovering the joys of the bush you can watch the sunset and indulge in a tasty sundowner drink.
Feeding children on a holiday can often be a parents nightmare trying to cajole children into eating unfamiliar foods. Thankfully the staff at andBeyond lodges have thought of this and provide a well thought out fun, childrens menu, perfect for fussy eaters including tasty treats such as pythons penne pasta, wild dogs hot dogs, prickly porcupines pizza etc.
Meanwhile, a separate boma allows your children to be just like grown-ups; provided is a special table at which they can sit, along with a nice warm campfire and some quintessential marshmallows to toast. Bedtime is made extra special though, as waiting on your childs bed is a bedtime story, specially prepared by the lodge.
Africa is the ideal playground where you can spend quality time together as a family exploring the great outdoors. It will be an adventure beyond anything you or your children have ever experienced before and one sure to provide lasting memories. One of Mahlatinis clients recently stayed at Phinda Mountain Lodge, for her sons Matthews 6th
birthday. She sent us an email, detailing how happy she was with the service received:
"We had an absolutely amazing time, it really was so awesome. The staff were incredible and really went out of their way with the kiddies, there was so much focus on them which was great, they were never left out! Accommodation awesome, service great, and I'm not too sure how to even describe the food; I don't think I've ever eaten so much, am still trying to recover! Was delicious! We had great game drives, lots of good viewing, especially cheetah and lion! Think they knew it was Matthews birthday and all came out to play! Matthews bday was very special; they had a pressie on the bed for him and had a chocolate cake for him at dinner with them all singing. And, like I said, I think the animals knew that day to come out. When we stopped for a coffee break on our morning drive they loved the pancakes that were waiting for them! And our ranger took Matthew to catch a fish, well I'm not exaggerating when I say he caught a fish as big as him, which was awesome for him as every time him and his dad have tried fishing they haven't caught anything!
Thanks so much for organizing an unbelievable trip for us, we really appreciate all your help with everything! Only problem is that Taylor already mentioned she would like to go there for her birthday too! Oops, were in trouble now!"
