Day 1 & 2:

A Mahlatini representative from Mahlatini will meet you on arrival at Livingstone Airport in Zambia for the start of your holiday to Zambia and Botswana. From Livingstone airport you will be transferred by road to Toka Leya just upstream from the spectacular Victoria Falls on the shores of the Zambezi River.

Toka Leya is situated under a shady canopy of jackalberry and waterberry trees overlooking the mighty Zambezi River and some of its islands. Spend your next two days enjoying all that Livingstone has to offer from tours of the Victoria Falls, game drives within Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, river cruises, guided nature walks, sunset cruises, helicopter flights, micro-lighting, canoeing, jet boating, white water rafting, fishing and even bungee jumping for the more adventurous!

Day 3 - 5:

After a leisurely breakfast you will be at Toka Leya and transferred back by road to Livingstone Airport and where you will board your light aircraft flight bound for the Linyanti Region of Botswana and Savuti Camp or DumaTau Camp.

Famous for its massive herds of animals, the Linyanti is right up there with the best wildlife viewing areas in Africa. Huge herds of Elephant and buffalo reach staggering proportions during the dry winter months (June to December) as the animals move towards the permanent waters of the Linyanti and Kwando Rivers. The area is a mixture of papyrus lined river channels, wooded islands and open grasslands which create a wide variety of habitat that attract vast quantities of game. All the big predators are found here with Lion, Leopard and Hyena being found in relative abundance as well as rarer species such as cheetah and wild dog. Spend your next three days enjoying all that these Linyanti camps have to offer.

Day 6 - 8:

After your morning activity and brunch you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your short light aircraft flight to the famous Okavango Delta and Little Vumbura or Kwetsani Camp.

A magnificent mixture of mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains, illala palm fringed islands, lagoons and tranquil waterways make this one of the most unique and diverse regions in Africa. Its vast variety of plant, bird and animal life, creates one of the most magnificent and welcoming wildlife sanctuaries in all of Africa. Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog, Elephant and Buffalo are all found here as well as most plains game such as zebra, impala, tsessebe, giraffe and lechwe. If you are really luck you may also get to see sable, kudu, reedbuck and the extremely shy sitatunga or pels fishing owl. Spend your next three days on safari on the beautiful Okavango enjoying activities on offer drom the camps such as day and night game drives in 4x4 safari vehicles, boating excursions, guided walks (where permitted) and enjoying quiet mokoro (dug out canoe) excursions along the narrow Delta channels.

Day 9:
This morning after your morning activity and brunch you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your short light aircraft transfer to Maun where your journey will end.

Holiday to Botswana and Zimbabwe during May 2011

Botswana Review

Loved Botswana. Its a country that really seems to have its act together. They have made conscious decisions to maintain their environment and from our little exposure it seems that the government has been able to avoid much of the corruption and inefficiencies of many other African countries.
