This Ultimate Uganda Escape Holiday is for those really wanting to get to grips with Uganda and all that it has to offer. For 14 nights you will visit all the main attractions and see not only gorillas and chimps but a host of other wildlife too. Where necessary long drives have been avoided by including light aircraft flights but for the rest of the trip you and your private driver will enjoy the adventure and appreciate the incredible landscapes of this diverse country. There's also plenty of opportunity to engage with the local people and learn more from the various cultural groups you will encounter.
The trip will start at Wildwaters Lodge which lies on a unique private island mid-stream within the mighty River Nile in Uganda. Reached by boat, it's a very adventurous place to stay. Activities in the nearby adventure-hub of Jinja area include: white-water rafting, bungee jumping and jet boating, as well as horse riding and fishing. The area is also perfect for viewing some of the more than 1000 bird species that Uganda is so famous for. From here you will travel to Paraa Safari Lodge at Murchison Falls National Park where you will enjoy a Big 5 safari by both game vehicle and boat. You can also choose to hike to the top of the Murchison Falls and from this vantage point you will watch the Nile forced through a seven-meter cleft in the rocks and plunge 45 meters below, forming a spectacular rainbow.
Boarding a light aircraft you will then fly along the Nile at a very low altitude, which gives you the best game viewing opportunity. Later the flight will proceed towards the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range. Keep an eye out for the most amazing views of the farmlands, rivers, savannahs, ever green forests and crater lakes. On arrival you will transfer to Kyaninga Lodge, nestled on the edge of an extinct volcanic crater at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains and near to Kibale National Park. It's in this park that you will go chimpanzee tracking and learn about the forest's other fauna and flora. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. Moving on to a vastly different landscape, largely open savannas, you will stay in two different areas of Queen Elizabeth National Park. At Mweya Lodge you will have the opportunity to view a wide variety of animals from game drive vehicles as well as a unique boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Wildlife in the park include lion, elephant, cape buffalo, warthog, leopard, hyena, mongoose, waterbuck, Ugandan Kob, hippo and prolific bird life. Whilst staying at Ishasha Wilderness Camp in the Ishasha sector of the park, look out for the tree climbing lions which are unique to this region.
Finally its time for your gorilla tracking experience staying at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp in Bwindi National Park. During your Gorilla Tracking, experienced wildlife guides, along with trackers and porters, will accompany you through the ever-green forest. The journey, through dense foliage and up steep climbs, leads you to lifetime experience of viewing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After finding the gorillas, you will have an opportunity to be within meters of these magnificent apes, sharing in their daily lives and experiencing their day-to-day activities.
